New interim CEO apppointed
05 Apr 2017
Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes is pleased to announce that Jeremy Bath has accepted the role of interim Chief Executive Officer after Council endorsed his appointment for a period of 12 months last Friday.
Many Newcastle and Hunter residents will be familiar with Mr Bath through his previous role as Hunter Water Interim Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Bath.
Prior to that 12-month role, he was a member of Hunter Water’s executive management team for several years.
“Jeremy Bath brings to Council a proven ability to work effectively with all sides of politics as well as a focus on customer service and community consultation," Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes said.
"There are many communities and stakeholders throughout the Hunter who will testify to his abilities to fairly resolve long-standing issues as well as ensure a customer-centric focus in organisational decision making.
“Council was very impressed with Mr Bath’s proven ICEO experience and achievements at Hunter Water together with his extensive local knowledge and immeasurable understanding of government.
“I would like to thank both Peter Chrystal and Frank Cordingley for their dedicated and tireless work while acting in the interim chief executive officer role and for assisting Council in further strengthening its financial future while addressing the city's infrastructure backlog.”
Mr Bath said he's looking forward to commencing on 15 May 2017.
“It’s incredibly exciting to join Newcastle City Council in a role that will help continue the resurgence of Newcastle. Having grown up in the Hunter I cannot recall a more exciting period for the city as both its culture and landscape positively transform.
“While Council has an impressive array of major projects underway such as the revitalisation of the coast and city centre, it’s important we continue to grow our vision for the city. Newcastle’s future will be built on our willingness to work and dream.
