Invasive plants are species that don’t belong in our local environment. These are often introduced from outside the region, state or even country, they can spread rapidly and upset the balance of our native ecosystems if we don’t work together to manage them.

Spot the Invaders: Quick ID Tips

  • Unusual Growth Patterns - Fast-spreading vines, dense mats, or aggressive ground cover.
  • Out-of-Place Appearance - Plants not typically found in bushland or coastal areas.
  • Seasonal Dominance - Species that take over in spring/summer, crowding out natives.
  • Common Offenders - Look out for Chinese Violet, Sticky Nightshade and Groundsel Bush.
