Projects and Works

Every year we deliver projects that improve Newcastle and support our goal of a liveable, sustainable and inclusive global city.

In 2025/26, over $154 million is being invested in 344 projects. This includes 192 road and traffic upgrades, 138 projects improving cycleways and footpaths, and 86 projects focused on sport and recreation.

Our Delivery Program and Operational Plan, known as Delivering Newcastle 2040, supports the Newcastle 2040 Community Strategic Plan through a connected and coordinated approach.

In 2025/26 the average infrastructure spend per property will be almost $2,100, which is $200 more than the average annual residential rate. This is possible through sound financial management and investment which you can read about in Resourcing Newcastle 2040 and our Long-Term Financial Plan 2025-2035.
