In accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and/or City of Newcastle's (CN) Community Participation Plan the below proposed development applications fall into one or more of the following categories and therefore are notified for community awareness.

  • Nominated integrated development;
  • Threatened species development;
  • Class 1 aquaculture development;
  • Potentially hazardous or potentially offensive development; or
  • Demolition in Heritage Conservation Area.

Proposed Leases

Proposed Lease to the existing operator of Stockton Surf Life Saving Club 124 Mitchell Street, Stockton.  

The City of Newcastle is inviting comments on a proposed lease of Lot 2 DP 1249904 (124 Mitchell Street, Stockton) to Stockton Surf Life Saving Club 

for the purpose of providing community services for a term of 21 Years.  

The grant of the lease is subject to Division 2 of Part 2 of Chapter 6 of the Local Government Act 1993.

Proposed Lease to an operator at Beresfield Golf Course, 260 Anderson Drive Beresfield

City of Newcastle is inviting comments on a proposed lease of Lot 1 DP112196 (260 Anderson Drive Beresfield) to an operator for the purpose of golf course operations for a term of 15 Years. 

The grant of the lease is subject to Division 2 of Part 2 of Chapter 6 of the Local Government Act 1993.

Community Lands Notices

PUBLIC EXHIBITION OF CITY OF NEWCASTLE DRAFT COMMUNITY LAND PLAN OF MANAGEMENT 

City of Newcastle gives public notice of the exhibition of the draft Community Land Plan of Management (PoM).

The PoM is required under Section 36 of the Local Government Act 1993. The PoM provides direction as to the use and management of community land within the Newcastle Local Government Area. There are over 370 reserves listed in the draft PoM.

The Draft PoM is on public exhibition for a period of 42 days, from 30 September to 11 November 2025. Feedback may be provided by online submission form, email or mail.

Written submissions must be received by 5pm on Tuesday 11 November 2025.

Public Hearing 

As required under Section 40A of the Local Government Act 1993, a public hearing will be held in regards to the categorisation of the land included within the PoM.

The public hearing will be held on:

  • Thursday 30 October 2025
  • 5.30pm – 7.00pm
  • City Administration Centre, 12 Stewart Ave Newcastle West.

Public Notification: Financial Assistance - New Lambton

In accordance with s356(2) of the Local Government Act 1993, the City of Newcastle gives 28 days notice of its' intention to grant financial assistance to ratepayers impacted by the May 2025 New Lambton landslip incident.

On the morning of 23 May 2025, during the NSW East Coast Severe Weather Disaster, a landslip incident was reported at Russell Road, New Lambton. 15 properties in Russell Road, Victoria Street, Baker Street and Portland Place, New Lambton were evacuated by Police, with the occupants legally unable to return to their homes.

Rates and charges totalling $42,729 have been levied on the 15 impacted properties for 2025/26. It is proposed that a donation pool equal to this total amount be made available, with individual donations limited to an amount equal to that of the 2025/26 rates and charges of an individual impacted property.
