Lifeguard Patrols

Beaches

All beaches are patrolled during the summer swimming season from 27 September 2025 until 27 April 2026. Nobbys, Bar and Merewether Beach are patrolled all year round.

For your own safety, please swim only when beaches are patrolled.

Beach Lifeguard Patrol Times

Newcastle Beach and Dixon Park Beach

• 27 September 2025 to 2 November 2025 - 9am to 5.30pm
• 3 November 2025 to 22 March 2026 - 7am to 5.30pm*
  (*Sundays 9am - 5:30pm)
• 23 March 2026 to 26 April 2026 - 9am to 5.30pm 

Stockton Beach

• 27 September 2025 to 26 April 2026 - 9am to 5.30pm

Bar Beach, Nobbys Beach and Merewether Beach

• 27 September 2025 to 2 November 2025 - 9am to 5.30pm
• 3 November 2025 to 22 March 2026 - 7am to 5.30pm*

Surf Lifesaving Clubs

Beaches are patrolled on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays by Surf Lifesaving Clubs for 30 weeks from 27 September 2025 to 26 April 2026.

Ocean Baths

Merewether and Newcastle Ocean Baths are open all year round, subject to maintenance and cleaning.

Merewether Ocean Baths

• 27 September 2025 to 26 April 2026 - 9am to 5.30pm
• 27 April 2026 to 25 September 2026 - 8am to 4.30pm

Merewether Baths are cleaned every Thursday.

Newcastle Ocean Baths

• 27 September 2025 to 26 April 2026 - 9am to 5.30pm
• 27 April 2026 to 25 September 2026 - 8am to 4.30pm

Newcastle Ocean Baths will be closed for cleaning every Wednesday. V
