Waratah Local Centre

The project is on hold, subject to future scheduling in the Capital Works Program.

Waratah is set for an upgrade

On 29 June 2021, the elected Council agreed to carry out the renewal of Waratah Local Centre. Community feedback on values, issues and priorities for the public domain will inform the development of a draft Public Domain Plan.

The site plan below shows the area in scope for the Waratah Local Centre Upgrade.

This local centre renewal is part of City of Newcastle's commitment to developing vibrant, safe and active public places.

Have your say

In 2022, we asked for community feedback to help us develop a design that will improve the street scape and public space. Thanks for sharing your ideas on how you think we could improve this Local Centre, and what you would like to see retained.

Our team will review all of the feedback that is received, and this information will inform the development of a draft Public Domain Plan. In time, this draft plan will then be placed on public exhibition for comment and further community feedback will be used to finalise the plan.
