Youth Climate Action Grant

• Encouraging Clean Technology: Research, promote and/ or implement energy efficiency and the uptake of renewable energy. For example, community renewable energy and battery storage initiatives. 

• Building a Circular Economy: Research, promote and/ or implement a circular economy. For example, sustainable procurement, waste avoidance and local sourcing, production and consumption of materials.  

• Enhance our urban blue and green spaces. For example, tree planting and biodiversity, wetlands, bushland and waterways 

• Supporting Electric Transport: Research, promote and/ or implement charging solutions for electric vehicles, and/or incentivise the uptake of electric vehicles and zero-emission transport. 

• Advancing New Zero Emission Industries: Research, promote and/ or implement zero-emission industries. For example, establishment of low emissions technology and/or support for a just transition. 

• Applications open: Tuesday 11 March 2025 at 9am (AEST)
• Applications close: Sunday 13 April 2025 at 11.59pm (AEST)
• (Optional) Online information and Q&A workshops on Wednesday 19 March 2025 (6pm - 7pm) and Wednesday 2 April 2025 (12pm - 1pm)
• Notifications of application outcome late-May 2025.
• Projects to be completed by 31 October 2025.
• Project report to completed by 15 November 2025.

• Legally constituted not-for-profit youth organisations supporting youth between 15 and 24 years of age
• Small businesses (20 employees or less) that represent youth between 15 and 24 years of age
• Individuals must be Auspiced by an eligible entity
• For individuals or organisations that were successful in receiving funding for round 1 of the Youth Climate Action Grants (June 2024), the application for round 2 must demonstrate significant change or development. The application will need to clarify what are the new components of their project and how round 2 funding scales up, or goes beyond the project that was started and concluded in round 1.

• Climate specific youth networks, led and co-chaired by youth, including the identification, development and implementation of research and actions that can individually and collectively address climate change issues, relevant to the needs and priorities of young people.  
• Food organics and single use plastic recycling, including facilitation of food organics and/or soft plastic recycling in our high schools, local university and TAFEs, to reduce waste going to landfill and the associated greenhouse gas emissions.  
• Energy efficiency and electrification for renters, including a social media campaign aimed at accessing renewable energy in your rental, how to talk to your landlord about sustainability, how to purchase Green Power, optimising home energy bills and reducing energy consumption.  
• Youth-led awareness, education, research, and development initiatives, including youth-led climate education programs; youth climate hackathons; youth-developed climate surveys and research; youth-informed clubs or curriculum; and youth-designed public art and awareness campaigns. 
• Youth-driven climate mitigation and adaptation projects, including youth-led community gardening, tree planting, reforestation, and urban farming campaigns; and youth-produced climate resilience workshops and disaster preparedness programs.
