CN Local Transport Forum
Purpose
In delivering on its delegated authority to manage the local road network in Newcastle, CN manages a Local Transport Form. The Forum provides advice, technical review, and coordination of works and events. It also provides a method to record all actions for changes made to the regulatory control of our local roadways. It does not vote, issue approvals, or make decisions.
The four mandatory invitees of the CN Local Transport Forum are representatives from each of City of Newcastle, Transport for NSW, NSW Police, and the relevant State Member(s) of Parliament. Further the nominated operators of the public transport services are also invitees of the Forum. CN also invites important stakeholders to participate as part of discussing all recommended actions, with the invited stakeholders are listed below.
Stakeholders
- Transport for NSW
- NSW Police
- Mr Tim Crakanthorp MP
- Ms Sonia Hornery MP
- Ms Jodie Harrison MP
- City of Newcastle
- Councillor Johnson
- Councillor Pull (alternative)
- Keolis Downer (Newcastle Transport)
- CDC (Hunter Valley) Buses
- 13 Cabs
The Forum is facilitated by our Planning and Environment Directorate and directed by Transport for NSW. Details on the authorisation and delegation to all councils can be found on the Transport for NSW website here.
CN forwards all recommended changes to prescribed traffic control devices to the Forum for discussion, review, or notation. This ensures all relevant stakeholders are aware of and can provide comment on recommended changes. This also keeps a formal record of all changes made on Newcastle’s local road network.
Meetings of the Forum are held every month, apart from January. All Forum agendas and approved minutes (other than confidential items) are available via CN’s Council Meetings page - search for the Forum's name in the 'search' field
